Woodturning is the art and craft used to create objects on a lathe and differs from other forms of woodworking in that the wood is moving whilst a stationary tool is used to cut and shape it.

I have always enjoyed working with wood and a few years ago enrolled on a wood working course at the local high school. Whilst on the course I noticed a lathe in the corner of the workshop and asked if I could use it. The class teacher helped me to make a bowl. I WAS HOOKED! I made enquiries regarding qualifications in woodturning and over the next four years I completed four City and Guilds courses in woodturning. I built a workshop and wood store in my garden after taking early retirement through ill health in 2008. I started to sell my wood turnings to foster a greater awareness of the woodturners art and craft and hopefully turn what was my hobby into a small business.

I am a member of:

  1. The Association of Woodturners of Great Britain
  2. The National Market Traders Federation
  3. The City of Wolverhampton Woodturners
  4. The Black Country Woodturners
  5. Burcot Woodturners
  6. The International Association of Penturners

I am totally responsible for the purchase of materials, design, production and sales of the finished turnings. I now have a nice small wood turning business which keeps me active.

I regularly do craft fairs and markets around the Midlands, for more details have a look on my events page.
